The Ten Violin Sonatas by Beethoven

As a celebration of the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), Duo Damgaard-Gryesten will perform the complete violin sonatas by Beethoven, during concert tours in 2020 and 2021., with the 10 sonatas divided in 3 concert programs.

Duo Damgaard-Gryesten, i.e. violinist Benedikte Damgaard and pianist Emil Gryesten, have established themselves as one of the foremost Nordic representatives of the violin-piano constellations. The have enjoyed touring for concerts, festivals and giving masterclasses in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and in Vietnam – performing at venues such as Nordens Hus Torshavn, Grand Concert Hall Hanoi, Hue Concert Hall, Copenhagen Summer Festival, Copenhagen Radio House, Vendsyssel Festival etc.

In 2017 this Danish duo released their debut album featuring music by Richard Strauss and Karol Szymanowski. The CD recording was premiered on national radio by the Danish National Broadcasting Corporation.

Both musicians are distinguished soloists. Benedikte received the First Prize at the Jakob Gade Violin Competition, and Emil is the winner of the Nordic Piano Competition. As soloists and chamber music players the two musicians have performed in every important classical music venue in Denmark and toured in most European countries.

The two members of the duo are featured in the Danish Government’s “Young Elite” program under the Danish Art Foundation – a special career development program for the very best upcoming Danish artists, intended to support the artists’ creative development and musical career in Denmark and internationally.
