Together with musicologist Thomas Solak, Emil is carrying out a project in Artistc Research at the Royal Danish Academy of Music from August 2021 to September 2023.
Gryesten and Solak’s project “Beethoven Reconstructed” focuses on Beethoven’s late piano sonatas and Schenkerian analysis and will be presented through CD recordings, a series of lecture concerts, and several articles in international journals.

New album released

On the new album released on Danacord, Emil performs works for cello and piano by Alfred Schnittke together with cellist Carl-Oscar Østerlind.

Top rating for Scherben in Piano News

In a review by leading German music critic Carsten Dürer in the Piano News magazine, Emil’s album “Scherben – Works for Piano and Ensemble by Søren Nils Eichberg” got a 6 out of 6 rating.

New Brahms CD Released

New album with Carlo-Oscar Østerlind, cello, and Emil Gryesten, piano, featuring works by Brahms, has been released on the label Danacord on June 8th.

The CD can be purchased here and will be available for streaming on all standard platforms shortly.

Review in Fanfare magazine

Emil’s album Scherben, containing works by Søren Nils Eichberg, was reviewed in the latest issue of the American music journal Fanfare Magazine (March-Aprll 2020 issue).

Fanfare describes Eichbergs piano cycle Scherben thus:

Eichberg has created a 19-minute cycle of ingenious, at times virtuosic miniatures that would fit on any piano recital and delight any audience.”
